What's up over at the atelier: June update

Finally...
after more than a week of trying to figure out
how to make a nice-fitting button down shirt,
I think I can finally settle down with my 8th prototype.

New MTM doll trying on the latest prototype before even getting her own name LOL
Shirts are still a new thing to me. I have long wanted to make some for my ladies but I was too scared. I'm happy to have had recently developed the courage to tackle some scary projects. This is just one of them.

Tiny patterns

Some prototypes that didn't make the cut

I going to try my latest pattern on a lighter fabric,
especially the white version.
I like to imagine my girls in white, fresh ,crisp,
button down shirts as they make their way to whatever it is that makes them happy =D

I believe light cotton and denim fabrics can easily work well with this pattern,
which is just a teeny tiny improvement from these earlier prototypes below:

3rd prototype which looks great on MTM but awkward on some girls

6th pattern/prototype already nailed the fit

Added some front pockets and reduced the collar size on this 7th pattern
I am aiming to also come up with shirt dress versions from these patterns this week.
Shirt dresses are such fun pieces and very versatile, too!

Personally, I had several in my lifetime.
Hoping to get a new one (that fits my heavier body now) this year.

So, yeah.. that's what has been occupying my brain
and employing my hands lately.

How about you, guys? What's up in your crafting tables?
Share away and let's chat, ayt? See you then!

hugs and kisses,
shasha

P.S.
For my WIPs, I am quite active in Instagram
as Blogger mobile is still not available in my country.

  2. Fabulous! I actually love the collar size on the denim shirt. And as I was reading this I was thinking, "that denim version would make an awesome shirt dress." So I am thrilled that you're planning to make dresses, too. I've wanted a denim shirt dress for myself for years, but have trouble finding one that fits properly. I have a small bust and teeny waist, but my bottom is... er curvier. Dresses that fit on top gape on the bottom, and dresses that fit on the bottom are too loose on top. At least my dolls can have a wardrobe item that has so far eluded me.

    1. Yes, the shirt dress is something I just realized I should be making, after I saw prototypes. I am hoping to make them in printed fabrics too so it's gonna be exciting. Ahhh, for most parts, I too am the standard body. At 5'2", I am boxy and more masculiny than most girls haha so I have a hard time fitting into standard sizes. Our dolls have always been better versions of us hhaha
